A Story of the Vashon Troll’s Origins
Drawing on an abundance of Scandinavian folklore, playwright Bryan Willis has created an original, fanciful story about Vashon’s troll, and the origin of both his trollness and his place as protector of the birds. This playful tale is perfect for outdoor staging in the VCA Heron Meadow with loads of audience interaction. It is kid friendly with plenty of humor for adults and a gentle message for all. The story will be punctuated with original, joyful music created and performed by Kat Eggleston.

Book-it Repertory Theatre’s Founding Co-Artistic Director, Jane Jones, adapts and directs this poignant story of a farm boy without a voice and the deep unspoken friendship of his beloved dog, Almondine. It is anything but silent. Set in the pastoral plains of America's heartland, David Wroblewski's story defies the silence of a muted child and introduces us to a classic tale of a family torn apart by feuding brothers, an unexplained death, the banishing of a much-loved son and the havoc that ensues upon the visitation of an angry and vengeful ghost. Shakespearean in scope, Sawtelle is a story of long-held family secrets, betrayal and murder. It is also a profound story about the language of friendship, a language through Wroblewski's narrative voice that transcends words.
The Story of Edgar Sawtelle is performed through arrangement with Creative Artists Agency for David Wroblewski. All rights reserved.
